Creating Jobs Opportunities and Economic Development

Small business owners are the backbone of our community. They represent 99 percent of all employers, generate nearly three-quarters of all net new jobs, and employ more than 50 percent of the private-sector workforce.

Creating jobs and putting people back to work is a top priority. I have spoken with far too many people in our community who have had their hours cut or who are out of work all together. Historic Florence, McKinley Street, 72nd and Sorenson Parkway, and Ames Avenue are crucial economic corridors that will drive the future economic development in District 13. As your State Representative, I will fight to ensure funding for entrepreneurs and small business owners within District 13. This effort includes improving access to low-interest loans and start-up grants. As a fellow entrepreneur and small business owner, I furthermore understand the needs of small business owners, and will advocate for equal opportunities to acquire contracts with state governmental entities.
